About Alleman

The town of Alleman, named after the son of Peter (Pierre) Alleman, John Lewis Alleman, is a hidden treasure right in the heart of Iowa. Located in northern Polk County between Ankeny and Ames, it maintaines a small-town feel without being too far from the city. It is home to three of the four buildings in the North Polk school district.

Alleman, the newest town that was added to Polk County in 1973, is known for its four towers: the local TV tower (2,000 ft. tall), Des Moines Hearst-Argyle Television Tower (2,000 ft. tall), Saga Communications Tower (1,539 ft. tall), and the American Towers tower (1,999 ft. tall). These towers make Alleman home to some of the world's tallest structures.
